Hunza is a mountainous valley in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan. Hunza is situated in the extreme northern part of the region, bordering with the Wakhan Corridor of Afghanistan and the Xinjiang region of China. The Hunza valley is situated at an elevation of 2,438 meters.

The valley has different beautiful natural sights which are the attractions for tourists. Among these attractions the Baltit and Altit fort are also well known. The Baltit fort, after renovation, has recently been turned into heritage museum. In Hunza, the bazaar of Karimbad is famous for its local handicrafts, handmade rugs, traditional embroidered caps, shawls, hand woven cloth (paffu) and its gemstones which are famous all over the world, particularly Ruby. The Ruby mines are famous tourist attractions.

Rakaposhi Peak
First and foremost is the view of Rakaposhi.

The immense mountain of Rakaposhi can be seen anywhere, no matter what part of Hunza you are staying.

Moreover, the mountain is a part of the Karakoram Mountain Range and is 7,788 meters high.

Second on the list is the Karimabad, the capital of Hunza.

The village is famous for its history as it houses the formers of the Royal family.

Altit fort
Altit Fort is an ancient fort above Karimabad in the Hunza valley.It was home to the hereditary rulers of the Hunza state who took the title Mir. Altit Fort was the residence of a former prince around 1100 years old.Now serving as a museum over there.Both the fort are a masterpiece of architect and craft.
Baltit Fort
Baltit Fort is another fort in the Hunza valley, a must visit the place to visit in the valley.The foundations of the fort are said to date back around 600 years. But there have been rebuilds and alterations over the centuries.The fairy-tale-like castle of Baltit, above Karimabad, is a Hunza landmark, stilted on massive legs, its wooden bay windows look out over the valley.
